Although the Blemyes were known to be a peaceful Nubian tribe during the period of Roman Emperor Septimius Severus, they were also described as being terrifying, headless men with their facial features on their chests. It's not clear why two wildly different descriptions of the Blemyes exist, or whether they still live to this day.
