Merrows are hideous mermen that prowl the seas in search if ships in distress. After they ships sink, merrows catch the souls of sailors in bowl-like soul cages. The souls are denied entry to the afterlife while trapped in limbo this way. Merrow status is based on how many souls an individual has in his collection.
