31 Days of Monsters - Day 21: Merrow

Merrows are hideous mermen that prowl the seas in search if ships in distress. After they ships sink, merrows catch the souls of sailors in bowl-like soul cages. The souls are denied entry to the afterlife while trapped in limbo this way. Merrow status is based on how many souls an individual has in his collection.

31 Days of Monsters: Berberoka

In the Philippines, fishermen are wise to worry if they see a body of water with a lot of fish near the surface. Berberoka like to suck up the water where they live driving fish to the surface. When humans stop by to catch the fish, the berberoka spit the water in their faces to drown or incapacitate them long enough to be captured and devoured.
