31 Days of Monsters - Day 14: Wanyūdō

After death, an evil Japanese nobleman was cursed to wander the roads between Hell and Earth in the form of a burning, human-faced ox-cart wheel. Wanyūdō travels the world to remind people to be kind to one another, but he will grab anyone he can and drag them to Hell with him on his next lap.

31 Days of Monsters - Day 9: Kamikiri

Kamikiri are Japanese yokai with scissor-like beaks and hands. They sneak into houses at night and snip off chunks of sleepers' hair. Having your hair stolen by a Kamikiri is usually a sign that you are about to marry a yokai or ghost.

31 Days of Monsters - Day 1: Kappa

Kappa are dangerously mischeivous Japanese yokai who live in ponds and rivers. They have an indentation on the top of their heads that must be kept filled with water when they venture onto dry land. An easy way to defeat a Kappa is to bow to them before they can attack you. The Kappa will respond by bowing back, which will drain the cavity, leaving them incapacitated.

31 Days of Monsters - Day 16: Akaname

Akaname are yokai from Japan. Their name means, literally, "filth licker". They frequent disgusting, dirty places such as public restrooms, searching for grime, muck and excrement to eat. Because of their habits, their skin is red and blotchy from disease, and they have a horrific odor. They can only be driven away by depriving them of their beloved feculence.

31 Days of Monsters: The Hibagon

A Japanese BHM, the Hibagon is a large humanoid covered with black bristly fur and white hands and feet. Like other BHMs, the Hibagon prefers solitude, but can surprise outdoorsy people who aren't expecting to meet such a creature on their travels.

31 Days of Monsters: Kuchisake-onna aka The Slit-Mouthed Woman

The ghost of a woman, mutilated by her jealous lover, the Slit-Mouthed Woman asks her victims a very simple question: "Do you think I'm beautiful?" If you answer , "No," she will kill you with a pair of scissors she carries. If you answer, "Yes," she will slash your face so you look just like her. Best to avoid her.

31 Days of Monsters 2014: Harionago

Harionago is a Japanese monster who's name means "The barbed woman". The Harionago's supernaturally long hair is tipped with vicious hook-like barbs, and she wanders the countryside in search of young men to devour. When she crosses paths with a victim, she laughs at him, and if he laughs back, she attacks, ripping him to pieces with her hair and feasting on his flesh.
