31 Days of Monsters - Day 5: Elbow Witch

The Elbow Witches are crones from the traditions of the Ojibwe people. They have sharp awls projecting from their elbows that they use as weapons. The Ojibwe hero Aayaase was able to defeat them by blinding them with cooking smoke. The sisters stumbled around trying to catch Aayaase, but only succeeded in stabbing each other to death.

31 Days of Monsters - Day 4: Sasabonsam

Sasabonsam is an West African vampire with a mouth full of iron teeth, and hooks for feet. He lurks in trees and when victims walk beneath him, he snares them with his hooks and devours their flesh and blood.

31 Days of Monsters - Day 3: Orobas

Orobas is a fearsome Prince of hell that can be summoned by a careful conjuror. Once under the control of a magician, Orobas will never lie, and can give detailed accounts of past present and future events. If accidentally released, Orobas will attack his former captor with two legions of devils.

31 Days of Monsters - Day 2: Alphyn

The Alphyn is a rare heraldic creature from European legend. Spectacular in appearance, Alphyns combine the traits of dragons, wolves, goats, eagles and serpents into a fearsome form that has to be seen to be believed. Of course, they also combine the viciousness of those same creatures and should be avoided at all costs.

31 Days of Monsters - Day 1: Kappa

Kappa are dangerously mischeivous Japanese yokai who live in ponds and rivers. They have an indentation on the top of their heads that must be kept filled with water when they venture onto dry land. An easy way to defeat a Kappa is to bow to them before they can attack you. The Kappa will respond by bowing back, which will drain the cavity, leaving them incapacitated.
