31 Days of Monsters - Day 30: Erchitu

In Sardinia, if a human commits a serious offense or crime, he may turn into an Erchitu. Taking the form of a giant white ox, the Erchitu becomes a portent of doom. On the night of a full moon demons will light candles on its horns, and herd him through towns. If the Erchidu stops and bellows outside a home, the head of that household will die before the next full moon.

31 Days of Monsters 2014: The Dulahan

A Dulahan is an Irish creature that takes the form of a headless figure astride a dark horse. The figure carries its grinning, oversize head under one arm while brandishing a razor sharp whip made from vertebrae with the other. The Dulahan is an omen of death in Irish culture. Wherever the Dulahan stops, a death is soon to occur. Some legends say that the Dulahan rides from town to town knocking on doors. If anyone answers, he throws a bucket of blood over them, which is seen as a portent of doom. I don’t see how it could be anything else do you?

In folklore all over the world, the appearance of a monstrous black dog is often seen as an omen of impending death. For that reason, I can't figure out why black dogs don't suffer from the same prejudice as black cats. It's just not fair.
